The Damrak is normally crammed full of tourists dipping in and out of shops, and commuting locals scrambling down the street towards Central Station. I was one of the rushing commuters myself one day. The Muurhuizen lining the canal seemed to glow in the warmth of the setting sun. The rainbow of colours and sparkles of light flashed in the reflected ripples of the canal. This illustration is my attempt to capture the contrast of this quiet moment in a rush of city noise.
