Onze Lieve Vrouwentoren sits at the heart of Amersfoort, surrounded by cafés, little streets and buildings that seem to learn towards it, as if listening to its secrets. I’ve always loved this feeling - that the whole square somehow gathers towards the tower. My drawing captures that sense of place, with the wobbly buildings and trees gently turning towards this much-loved landmark.

The Groot Tinnenburg and Kortegracht in Amersfoort may be one of my favourite places to cycle past in Amersfoort. The crumbly buildings and little stoney bridges, the dripping tree leaves tapping ripples in the water and of course the beautiful reflections in the canal. Every time I pass I think of how lucky I am to live in this little city. BEAUT.

When I first moved to Amersfoort we lived in a little apartment above a shop with a view of the old gate to the city. I loved sitting at the window imagining all the people that have passed through since it was built. Drawing it feels like capturing a glimpse of the past and a snap of today with the new shops lining the streets leading towards the old city centre.

Seat with a view... This is a wee crosspoint near the famous Koppelpoort (water-gate to the city). You'll catch most people (quite rightly) snapping away, taking photos of the medieval gate. But here I am facing the opposite direction to scribble. The big shady tree, leaning buildings, cobble stones, an old storybook lamppost and a wobbly city bike bumping over the bridge. These are a few of my favourite things... to draw. This is the View from t' Zand. Also. Just out of shot is a little bakery that sells the BEST (vegan) croissants and orange chocolate brownies in Amersfoort.
