Golden Damrak

When I lived in Amsterdam I’d rush along Damrak with a stream of locals weaving around tourists to get to work. It’s wild how easily and quickly these gorgeous things become your norm.
The muurhuizen in the Netherlands are so iconic, the first time I saw them was like stepping back in time or into a book of old stories. I think living abroad and going back to Scotland reminds me of this the most. How something as outrageous as a city leaning and floating on water can become background noise until you leave for a while and come back and find a whole new appreciation for it. Here’s me capturing the sun setting over the canal and muurhuizen whilst stopping to re-appreciate a beautiful, uncharacteristically quiet moment in Amsterdam.
